The Port Authority of Greater Oklahoma City, grantee of Foreign Trade Zone #106, has been granted the authority from the Foreign-Trade Zones Board, U.S. Department of Commerce, to include sites at the ICON Center Industrial Park (Site #12) in Ada, Oklahoma – now known as the Chickasaw Center - and within the boundaries of the Guthrie/Edmond Regional Airport, GeoPort, (Site #13).
The Ada site, zoned I-2, sits on 26 acres, has 357,101 sq.ft. under roof, and 8 silos with a total of 5,000 ton capacity. The Guthrie site, also zoned I-2, sits on 308 acres with a 5,000 ft. main runway and several buildings ready for new operations.
This is a grant of authority issued by the U. S. Foreign-Trade Zones Board pursuant to Board Order No. 1529. The expansion sites were approved on September 28th, 2007.
A FOREIGN-TRADE ZONE is an area considered outside of the U.S. Customs territory in which duties on merchandise can be deferred, reduced or in some cases eliminated. A Foreign-Trade Zone is an area where domestic and foreign merchandise is brought for the purpose of storage, manufacturing, assembly, salvage, repackaging, repair, re-export, transfer shipping, exhibiting goods and other operations.
Most Foreign-Trade Zones are located in or near U.S. Customs Port of Entry and under U.S. Custom Supervision. Foreign-Trade Zones are also referred to as "FREE PORTS" or “FREE ZONES” in some parts of the world.
A Foreign-Trade Zone is a unique means of expanding international trade in Oklahoma as well as stimulating the local economy to provide greater economic growth and employment opportunities to the Greater Oklahoma City Area.
